Whether you want to protect your photography with a watermark, add a caption to a social media post, or create a meme, Wizard Image has three dedicated tools for writing on images — all free and with no software to install.

Which tool should I use?

How to add text to an image

  1. Open the Add Text tool — Go to Wizard Image — Add Text.
  2. Upload your image — Any JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
  3. Type your text — Enter your caption, watermark text, or copyright notice.
  4. Choose font & size — Select from several system fonts. Set a size appropriate for your image resolution.
  5. Set position — Nine quick-position buttons (top-left, top-center, top-right, and so on) or fine-tune with X/Y pixel offsets.
  6. Set color & opacity — Pick a hex color and set the opacity (0–100). Lower opacity creates a subtle watermark effect.
  7. Apply and download — Click "Add Text" and download your result.
Watermark tip: For a professional watermark, set the opacity to 30–40%, choose white or light gray, and position it at bottom-right or center. Avoid corners for important photos — they are too easy to crop out.

How to create a meme

  1. Open the Meme Generator — Go to Wizard Image — Meme Generator.
  2. Upload your base image — Famous meme templates work best, but any image works.
  3. Type top and bottom text — Enter your caption in each field.
  4. Generate & share — Done. Download and share anywhere.

How to add an image watermark (logo overlay)

  1. Open the Image Watermark tool — Go to Wizard Image — Image Watermark.
  2. Upload your base photo — The image you want to protect.
  3. Upload your watermark image — Your logo or signature. PNG with transparency works best.
  4. Set position and opacity — Choose where the watermark appears and how visible it is.
  5. Apply and download — The watermark is burned into the image permanently.
Semitransparent PNGs: For image watermarks, always use a PNG with a transparent background. A white or colored background around your logo will look bad on non-white photos.

Best practices for text on images

Contrast is everything

White text on a dark photo is readable. White text on a bright sky is invisible. Add a semi-transparent dark background box behind your text if the image has a light background. Consider using a text shadow or outline for maximum legibility.

Standard copyright watermark

A typical watermark reads: © YourName 2026 or © YourWebsite.com. Use 2–4% of the image height as the font size. Position bottom-right at 20 px from the edges.

Font size for social media

For a 1080 × 1080 Instagram image, text of 60–80px is comfortable to read. Scale down proportionally for smaller canvases.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add multiple text elements?

The current tool applies a single text block per operation. For multiple text layers, apply text once, download, then re-upload and apply the second text.

Can I remove a watermark from an image?

Wizard Image does not include a tool for removing watermarks from images. Respecting creators' copyright is important.

What fonts are available?

The tool supports several common fonts. For custom fonts, add text in design software and export, then use Wizard Image for other operations like compression or conversion.
